Itinerary of: 8 Days Tour From Casablanca

DAY 1: Casablanca – Rabat

Pick up at the Casablanca airport and visit the Hassan II Mosque. Then departure to Rabat, where we will visit the city and its monuments: Alcazaba de los Oudaias, the Mausoleum of Mohammed V and the Hassan

DAY 2: Rabat – Fez

On the way to Fez, we go to the city of Meknés, a city that reached its apogee thanks to Sultan Mulay Ismail. At 27 km from Meknes, there are the ruins of the Roman city of Volubilis that we are also going to visit, as well as the holy city of Moulay Idriss. Continue to Fez. Dinner and accommodation in Riyadh.

DAY 3: Fez – Fez

Free day in FEZ. When penetrating the streets of your medina (old city), we will feel that time has receded: the union structure is still present in the work, the narrowness of its streets does not allow other means of transport than donkeys and a constant tingling of people moves through the labyrinthine streets, in the midst of which neighborhoods like one of the Andalusians, magnificent mosques and Koranic schools will surprise us.

Fez has always been associated with study and religiosity and remains the spiritual capital of Morocco. After visiting the medina, another option is to walk aimlessly through the streets of Fez-Jdid, where the royal palace, the mellah (Jewish quarter), and the oldest mosque in Fez are located.

DAY 4: Fez, Ifrane-Azrou, Midelt, Errachidia, Ziz Valley, Erfoud – Merzouga

After breakfast, depart for Midelt through the mountains and cedar forests of the Middle Atlas. Pass by Ifrane (called the Moroccan Switzerland), a charming ski resort, and Azrou, an important handicraft center specializing in cedar wood works.

After the Zad Pass (2178m), we will arrive at Midelt for lunch. In the afternoon, we will descend towards Erfoud and Errachidia through the Ziz Valley, dotted with palm trees. Continue to the sand dunes of the Erg Chebbi.

In the afternoon, we will leave the 4×4 and take the dromedaries to cross the great dunes of the desert for about two hours. Night in the heart of the desert in nomadic tents, enjoying the stars, the moon, the sunset, the sunrise… Dinner and accommodation in Haimas: an unforgettable night!

DAY 5: Merzouga, Khamlia, Rissani, Valle del Draa – Ouarzazat

In the morning, we will go back to the hotel to have breakfast and take a comforting shower. Visit Khamlia, a town originally from Mali, where we can relax with a tea while enjoying a small gnawa music concert. Then, using a track to connect with a portion of the old Paris-Dakar rally’s route and the mountains that border Algeria in the distance, we will take a brief tour through the Erg Chebbi dunes, an extension of the sand desert where the Great Dune of Morocco is located and rises to a height of more than 250 meters. we will make a stop at a panoramic point where we can contemplate the Erg Chebbi as a whole.

We will then head towards Rissani, the first imperial city, with its interesting market where the nomads of the surrounding area come to sell their livestock and buy the belongings they need. There you will be able to taste the tasty Berber pizza (it is only cooked here), and we will continue our way to Ouarzazate through the Draa Valley, one of the longest rivers in Morocco. Stops to contemplate the charming adobe kasbahs and Berber villages that dot the route and the interesting geological formations of the Draa Valley. Dinner and overnight in Ouarzazate.

DAY 6: Ouarzazate, Ait Ben Haddou – Marrakech

Breakfast and visit to the famous fortified Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, on the banks of the Ounila River. The architectural complex, favored by its wonderful natural environment, has been the location of a multitude of famous films such as Babel, Gladiator, etc. (declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO). The trip is a succession of strong points. Today’s day is another one of them.

The 200 kilometers separating Ouarzazate from Marrakech run through the High Atlas. The road must be traveled slowly, for its beauty and because it is a mountain pass that crosses the Atlas at almost 2,300 m. To round off the spectacular day, we will follow the old caravan route that linked the two cities through the Ounila Valley, where kasbahs are built in caves and will also take us to Telouet. And we continue towards the red city of Marrakech.

DAY 7: Marrakech

Free day in Marrakech, a city famous for its Jemaa el Fna square, which will occupy much of our time: an amalgam of aromas, sounds and sensations unrepeatable.

The city also has countless places to wander and enjoy: the Jardines de Majorelle, the Menara, the Saadian Tombs, walks through the medina or the mellah (the old Jewish quarter), the route of the walls and the modern city (Gueliz) with its western ways of life.
